The emotionally-charged image perfectly captures the jubilation of Real Madrid's Luka Modrić during the UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool FC, showing the second Modrić throws the trophy in the air out of joy of victory and how the moment is captured by the cameras.
For the ninth year in a row, the Premios Panenka took place to honor those who do great work off the pitch and make football the game it is. With the award for the best photograph of 2022, IMAGO, together with Panenka, honors the impressive work of sports photographers worldwide and shines the spotlight on those behind the camera.
