Thomas Hengge is a New York-based photojournalist, filmmaker and writer exploring crisis, conflict, civil unrest and death through his work.
Over this past year and some, Thomas has covered roughly every major event of our time, including COVID-19, the unrest following the murder of George Floyd and the attack on the United States Capitol Building on January 6, 2021.
For his coverage, Thomas was awarded an Editor and Publisher "EPPY Award" for best photojournalism for a college website while working for his graduate school publication, Pavement Pieces. He was also shortlisted for the 2021 Student Photographer of the Year Sony Award by The World Photography Organisation, one of 10 other photographers.
Before pursuing journalism, he served as an infantry team leader in the United States Army, an experience that greatly influences how he approaches his coverage today.
Thomas is available for local and international assignments.
