Westlight founder Torsten Asmus is a filmmaker and photographer from Hochtaunus, near Frankfurt am Main.
With many years working in analog photography, Asmus later went on to digital image design. He was always fascinated by the world of film as well, especially the different production phases. This sparked his involvement in film production, never suspecting that he would be working independently as a filmmaker five years later under his own label, Westlight.
His interest in sports eventually led him to Frankfurt-based professional boxer Leon Bunn, with whom he produced a film in 2019 – shortly after, Leon won the IBF world title in his weight class.
Asmus added VFX and 3D animation to his repertoire with the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Together with his already existing footage and photos, it laid the foundation in the stock animation and illustration market, which has now become a second pillar of his work next to film.
Currently under production is a film on a first division Bundesliga table tennis club, as well as a short feature film scheduled for the fall.
